Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands are the perfect destinations that will give you a girls trip to remember whether it’s a weekend or a week long! You will of course need somewhere to stay for this adventure. The place to start your search for the perfect rental is Vacasa. If you do a search on which island you want to stay, the website offers you 3D tours and photos so you get a good look at where you may potentially be staying. Akers Ellis also has a very user friendly website that’s easy to search rentals specific to the Lowcountry. You’re sure to find the perfect pad to accommodate each and every one of your girlfriends.
Now on to planning your gal pal activities! We already know you’re here for the beautiful beaches, so here’s some great ideas to add to your girls trip to-do list.
What’s a girls trip without shopping! The lovely Freshfields Village offers an array of boutiques for you and your girlfriends to check out. Scout and Molly’s is definitely one to consider. They will make you feel comfortable and welcomed while their in-house stylists help you choose pieces that best suit you. New to Freshfields is a Lululemon pop-up, scheduled to be open throughout the summer and early fall months. They sell all kinds of sportswear for the fitness-focused girls in the group. Besides diamonds, makeup is a girl’s best friend. Bluemercury offers expert opinions on all the luxury brands every makeup lover adores. Just a few ideas for you!
And of course, we can’t forget to mention that you MUST come to Palmetto Scent Studio! While you can buy something right off the shelf, the fun thing to do is to sit at the fragrance bar with your girls and create your own signature scent in not only a candle, but other home fragrance products like room/linen sprays, diffusers and wax tarts. And don’t forget that we also offer body products like goat milk & honey body creams, roll-on fragrances, body washes, body mists and sugar scrubs - that can all be custom-scented! A fun way to top off your custom product is to add a souvenir label or unique custom monograms to commemorate your girls trip! The icing on the cake is that we are BYOB and if that doesn’t sell you, we don’t know what will!
After your fill of shopping, you and the girls may want to get a little adventurous. Check out Water Dog Paddle Company at Bohicket Marina. They offer guided paddleboard tours, giving great tidbits of info on the area’s wildlife, history and local’s point of view. It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert paddleboarder or not, they’ll meet everyone’s needs! For the semi-adventurous girls that don’t want to risk falling into the creek, Holy City Sailing offers sailing tours from Bohicket Marina as well.
After a day of adventure, you may want to spend down time relaxing and being pampered. You can start off your day with a yoga class at STUDIO33 - located right next to us in Freshfields Village. Whether you’re into Pilates, yoga or barre, they have it! Check out their class schedule here. What better way to relax than a spa day! The Spa at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island has many spa options from just single services to full-day experiences. Urban Nirvana, located conveniently in Freshfields Village, has an array of spa services including massages, skin care, and waxing, plus they have a separate salon where you come in for a quick cut or blow out! Another spa worth checking out is Synergy Day Spa overlooking the boats at Bohicket Marina.
A girl's gotta eat! Freshfields Village has some great dining options. Fuji, an authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant, is one of our favorites and offers sushi, hibachi and noodles. Make sure to check out their menu - it’ll make you hungry just looking at it! A great option for the girls outside of Freshfields Village is Wild Olive on Johns Island. The restaurant opened in 2009 and is a gem in the sea islands - true Italian dining. Nobody will go hungry on this girls trip.
No girls trip would be complete without a trip to a local bar. FortyEight Wine Bar & Kitchen in Freshfields Village has 48 wine stations! Grab a glass and pour 1, 3 or 6 oz pours at the station to try out an array of wines you’ve probably never had before. For a more laid back atmosphere, you must check out Low Tide Brewing on Johns Island. They have a wide selection of thoughtfully brewed craft beers, many of which incorporate locally grown ingredients. Their website lists current brews on tap as well as which food trucks will be serving on a particular day. You can’t beat their atmosphere either! Now, if you really want to get into the Southern spirit, go to the tasting room at The Firefly Distillery on Wadmalaw Island! Aside from moonshine, they have vodka, rum and many other products, as well as a fun story as to why they’re “in the middle of nowhere.” Conveniently located right next to Firefly is Deep Water Vineyard. All the wines are harvested and bottled on-site at the beautiful 48-acre vineyard.
There’s an endless amount of activities y'all can do on the islands, and we hope we gave you some new fun ideas!
