Ultimate Locals Guide for a Lowcountry Couples Getaway

In a rut for the perfect couples trip or date night? Lucky for you lovebirds the islands offer the perfect mix of romantic and adventurous activities. Whether you’re two peas in a pod or complete opposites, there’s something for every couple to enjoy.

Grab your soulmate and head to the studio to create your couples signature scent!

It’s easier than you think to craft a couples candle!

We of course first have to mention Palmetto Scent Studio! Whether you have to drag your sweetheart here or they are happy to tag along, everyone is going to have a heck of a time. Don’t just take our word for it, take theirs too! This couple stumbled upon the studio and had a blast making their individual scents. The fun didn’t stop there though! They each made a custom blend from three of their favorites then took a stab at creating their own couple signature scent. Even with their wildly different combinations, they were able to put their hearts and heads together to make a custom scent they both loved. Of the three scents they used in their love candle, which they named One Acre Farm, one was a favorite of hers (grapefruit), one a favorite of his (hops), and the third a scent they both agreed on (tomato leaf).

You and your soulmate can do the same thing and make it a real date night with drinks because we are BYOB! Not only fun, but romantic. Do you and your love bug live in different cities or ever have to part ways because of business trips? We got you covered. Making a custom scent together and pouring it into two vessels gives you something you can remember each other by when you’re separated. Even though you’re apart, you’ll still feel as close as ever when each of you comes home after a long day at work and simultaneously light the signature scented candle you made together.

If you’ve got time for more than a single date night, why not make it a few nights! There’s plenty to do and plenty of places to stay on the islands. The Andell Inn, located just a few yards from the studio, offers a cozy, yet modern atmosphere, and on Thursday nights host an awesome jazz trio by the lobby bar. It’s the perfect place to settle in for the night after all your fall time adventures. The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island is a five-star luxurious getaway, and their spa offers “suite seclusions” in their couples’ suite - the ultimate exclusive experience! While in Kiawah, we recommend enjoying cocktails at the Ryder Cup Bar overlooking The Ocean Course

When you’re ready to explore the rest of the sea islands, pack a picnic basket and head to The Angel Oak to enjoy its majestic beauty. When you’re ready to explore more, head south on Maybank Highway to the Charleston Tea Plantation where you can tour the fields, the factory and take home some local teas. After a day of exploring, you may decide you’re ready for a delicious dinner.  Our go-to favorites for a romantic dinner on Johns Island include the Fat Hen, Wild Olive, The Royal Tern, and Angel Oak Restaurant. You can’t go wrong with any of these choices!

Captured at Bohicket Marina by yours truly.

Before you leave the sea islands though, we suggest that you schedule time to enjoy the sunset from Bohicket Marina. Bright orange sunsets like this one are very common (we promise - no filter!). If you want to take in the sunset aboard a sailboat, connect with Captain Jack at Kiawah Sailing - he leaves right from the marina.

Fall is a beautiful and romantic time to enjoy the Lowcountry! Get ready to make tons of memories!
